The social video sharing site YouTube will be reopened after the completion of filtration mechanism, said Prime Minister of Pakistan, Raja Parvez Ashraf.
He was quoted as saying,
“We believe in access to free information. The only reason not to unblock YouTube is the presence of blasphemous material on it. We will open it as soon as we have a filtration mechanism.”
YouTube was blocked in Pakistan on 17th September after the protest against the Anti-Islamic film was uploaded on YouTube. The Interior Minister of Pakistan, Rehman Malik order to unblock YouTube on29th December, 2012, but within an hour of its opening, the prime minister re-imposed the ban because an anti-Islam film had not been removed.
Earlier, PTA said that the talks were underway with YouTube’s parent company Google for the removal of blasphemous content from the website.
