Apple Passes RIM; Now 4th Largest Phone Vendor

Apple has surpassed RIM to become the number four phone-maker in the world.
Apple only entered the cell phone market in 2007 but it didn't take long for the company to make a name for itself with the iPhone. Now, three years later, Apple has officially passed BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion to become the number four phone vendor worldwide. RIM currently sits at number five on the list.

Woman Kills Child for Interrupting Farmville Game

A woman from Jacksonville, Florida may face life in prison for killing her baby after his crying interrupted her Farmville gaming session.
The Florida Times-Union reports that 22-year-old Alexandra Tobias Wednesday pleaded guilty to killing her 3-month-old son, Dylan Lee, after he interrupted her game of Farmville. Tobias told investigators that she became angry with the little boy for crying while she was trying to play the browser-based social networking game. Tobias said she shook the baby before smoking a cigarette in an effort to compose herself. She then shook the baby again. Alexandra claims Dylan may have hit his head during the shaking.

A Hardware Flaw is Holding Back White iPhone 4

What's holding up the release of the white iPhone?

Some people, like our own Rachel Rosmarin, have been waiting months for the white iPhone. Despite all the delays, they remain hopeful that soon, Apple will announce the availability of the white iPhone 4 and they can finally have the phone they've been waiting for since June of this year.
Well, Apple just confirmed yet another delay, and again, gave customers no indication as to why they'll be waiting into 2011 for their white iPhones. However, Cult of Mac has spoken with a source connected to the company who says the delays are related to leaking light wrecking photos captured with the device's camera.

World's Smallest Full HD Display is Just 4.8-inch

I want that in my phone.

For those of you who have seen the iPhone 4's 326 ppi display, you can't deny that it's one amazing-looking LCD. The iPhone screen may still only be 3.5-inches diagonal, but the pixel density suddenly makes the screen much better and more usable.
Now we just need that sort of display on other products, not just ones from Apple. That could be helped by a company called Ortustech, joint venture between Casio Computer and Toppan Printing to develop small and medium sized displays.

Microsoft Making New PC Games DL Marketplace

A Steam competitor?
For PC gamers, the most popular way to buy games digitally is through Steam. And where there's action, Microsoft wants to be there.
Microsoft today announced the overhaul of Games for Windows Marketplace, which will have Games on Demand online distribution. Launching Nov. 15, the Games for Windows Marketplace will sell PC games, and like the Xbox Live Marketplace, will have recurring specials such as Deal of the Week.

It's been a while since we've seen any new XPS laptops but Dell has mixed things up a little with the launch of three new notebooks. Not only that, but the company is killing off the Adamo line and focusing on just three brands: Alienware, Inspiron and XPS.

First Windows Phone 7 Phone Sold in New Zealand

Windows Phone 7 is officially on shelves in the UK and New Zealand.
Most of the world is still waiting for Windows Phone 7 devices to hit shelves. Microsoft announced earlier this month that the phones would hit the UK on October 21 and the US in early November. However, it seems New Zealand has beat us all to the punch as it yesterday became the first country to sell phones running the new mobile OS from Microsoft.
