iPhone 4 Knocks, Are We Ready?

Finally Apple announced its best iPhone ever i.e the iPhone 4 at WWDC10. It may not be a surprise for you to know that apple has already beaten Microsoft in terms of revenue, quite recently, as most of its products hitting the market these days are phone based.
Anyways coming back to iPhone 4, it is a huge phone that ideally speaking, all of us would love to get hold of instantly but the point is, will we be able to utilize the device fully since Pakistan has still not embraced 3G Technology.
While many countries around the world have either adopted the technology or they are in the process of doing so including Bangladesh (surprising, isn’t it!). iPhone 4 that is said to be a bandwidth hungry device while supporting tons tons of application including HD playback, one may wonder how will it perform with GPRS or EDGE.
Now look at features of new iPhone 4 and then I will let you know its troubling features for us
  • Glass front and back
  • 5 megapixel camera with LED flash
  • 720p HD video recording
  • 960 x 640 resolution with 800:1 contrast ratio (4 times better than the previous iPhones)
  • Gyroscope (3-axis)
  • Gyro + accelerometer provide 6-axis motion sensing
  • Rotation about gravity
  • Apple A4 chip
  • 32 GB of Storage
  • Dual mic suppression
  • 802.11n WiFi
  • 300 hours of standby battery time (3G talk time: 7 hours, 3G web browsing: 6 hours, WiFi browsing: 10 hours, Video playback: 10 hours, Music playback: 40 hours)
  • 3.5-inch screen
  • 24% thinner than the iPhone 3GS
  • 3.5 inch mm headset jack
  • Front facing cam for video conferencing (Through WiFi)
  • Micro SIM tray
Micro Sim tray needs a micro SIM to be inserted in it and micro SIM is something totally new for people and technology in Pakistan.
Tiny card that holds your contact info and account information that you find in your GSM handset is a 15 x 25 mm plastic card whereas the new Micro SIM (also known as a 3FF SIM) is a diminutive 12 x 15mm, about 52% smaller.
This will be a litmus test for telecom operators to come up to the challenge of iPhone 4.
Telecom operators will have to invest in this technology. They should give a solution to this problem as iPhone is one of the most popular phones in Pakistan and iPhone 2G, 3G, and 3GS are glaring examples in this regard
Or if you are extremely eager to have this phone and think that your carrier is not going to provide you with a micro SIM card then here’s what you can do, you can make one for yourself by cutting the large one to fit in your iPhone 4!! (Pakistanis you know are very witty).

Sprint: We Tripled EVO 4G Sales by Accident

Sprint this week revealed the EVO 4G's first day sales had broken records previously held by the Palm Pre and the Samsung Instinct. Though that's still true, the EVO 4G didn't sell quite as well as Sprint originally claimed.

The HTC EVO 4G is currently in short supply at retail stores around the country, however, the device isn't selling as well as its carrier initially made out. Sprint has admitted that though it originally reported the number of EVO 4Gs sold on launch day was three times the number of Samsung Instincts and Palm Pres sold in their first three days combined, they made a mistake in the calculations.
"We inadvertently erred in the comparison," Sprint said. "The total number of HTC EVO 4G devices sold on launch day was in line with the number of Samsung Instinct and Palm Pre devices sold over their first three days on the market combined."
That's still pretty damn impressive though it's not clear how Sprint made the mistake in the first place. Reports now say the EVO 4G is nearly completely sold out everywhere so if you want one, you'll have to get a move on.
