First 3D HDTVs Sell Out in One Week

Panasonic is now forced to take back-orders.

Go figure. Wednesday Bloomberg said that Panasonic Corp. has already sold out of 3D HDTVs in the U.S. after one week of availability. Hitoshi Otsuki, the senior managing director heading Panasonic’s overseas operations, said that the company is now taking back-orders.
"It’s a great opportunity to turn around our TV business," he said without providing specific figures.
On March 10 Panasonic became the first manufacturer to sell 3D HDTVs in the U.S. The 50-inch plasma units went on sale at Best Buy and included a pair of glasses and a 3D Blu-ray player. The entire package retailed for a whopping $2,899.99.
Looks like not-so-cash-strapped consumers are really digging the new 3D-at-home technology. Is it still a fad, or is 3D technology here to stay?

Oops: Windows Phone 7 Won't Have Copy & Paste

Windows Phone 7 channels early iPhone OS features by completely omitting copy & paste functionality.

As slick of a device that the iPhone was and its lead on user-friendliness compared to other smartphones, the one poke at Apple's effort was the sore lack of copy & paste functionality.
Copy and pasting was a common function of nearly all other smartphones (and even some dumb ones), that it seemed very backwards of the iPhone to not have it until the feature arrived in the iPhone OS 3.0 update.
It's strange, then, to learn that Microsoft's upcoming big smartphone OS will be committing the same omission. At a Q&A session at MIX10, Microsoft said that clipboard operations won't be supported in Windows Phone 7.
Engadget confirmed again with Microsoft and reported: "Windows Phone 7 Series will not have copy and paste functionality. There is a data-detection service built into the text-handling API that will recognize phone numbers and addresses, but Microsoft says most users, including Office users, don't really need clipboard functionality."
We're still scratching our heads at Microsoft's decision to leave copy & paste out of Windows Phone 7.

PTA is Launching its Urdu Website Tomorrow

PTA is launching Urdu version of its website .  Website is told to be exactly the same in terms of content, but in Urdu language.
We are told that PTA is officially launching Urdu website tomorrow in a ceremony, reportedly, Sardar Latif Khosa, Minister for IT and Telecom is going to inaugurate the website.
But if you want to view website before that, access it here: http://urdu.pta.gov.pk
In terms of technologies, Urdu version is using PHP as programming language and MySQL for database. Permalink structure is going to be the same as they are for English version. Fonts are pretty understandable, but could be even better.
PTA’s website’s permalink (or urls) are real problem for many users, for instance, these links are created based on user sessions and can’t be re-used after a set period of time.
However, a good step by PTA indeed.

Xbox 360 'Slim' CPU/GPU, Motherboard Leaked?

Xbox 360 'Slim' CPU/GPU, Motherboard Leaked?

Could these be the first concrete evidence of an Xbox 360 'Slim' model?
While Sony has made it standard practice to release a slimmer, lighter version of its PlayStation console in each of its three generations, Microsoft could be on the brink of its first.
Through various motherboard revisions, Microsoft has kept the form factor of the Xbox 360 nearly constant. Kotaku reports that supposedly leaked shots of a revised Xbox 360 motherboard have appeared on a Chinese forum and now point to what is potentially the first sign of an Xbox 360 'Slim'.

Most telling is what appears to be the integration of both the ATI-designed GPU and IBM-designed PowerPC CPU now in a single chip. Such a move would not only allow for a smaller footprint, but it would also drive up profits for the platform holder and also allow for price cuts to the consumer.
