Apple to Reveal iPhone OS 4.0 This Week

Apple will be offering a sneak peak into iPhone OS 4.0 on Thursday.
Monday Apple told industry analysts and journalists that an iPhone OS 4.0 event is scheduled to take place on April 8th at 10am PST / 1PM EST. The company plans to offer a "sneak peak " into the next generation of iPhone OS software, however the announcement is somewhat surprising given that Apple is still riding the iPad hype after a successful launch over the weekend
So what's in this next release? That info remains unclear, however we've mentioned in the past that OS 4.0 may incorporate device multitasking. This may not be a true implementation of the term, but rather mimics the Android OS by leaving services running in the background: users can close a chat client window but still remain "connected" to the chat network.
Other rumors of new OS 4.0 features include a global inbox, home screen contacts, and a possible GPS navigator. Of course, all this is mere speculation until Thursday's big reveal to the press. We'll be real surprised if Apple doesn't reveal Netflix for OS 4.0 later this week.
