Facebook will track users from its smartphone app

Two officials with proper clearance and access mentioned the notion that the smartphone application that Facebook is developing will be able to collect location data from a user’s cellphone even if the application is not running. The plans of the app have not been made public yet.
The app is expected to be released in mid-March and will enhance the productivity of the social media forum. It is said that it will help one find friends and family if they are nearby. The tracking app could also help Facebook to direct ads according to the location and habit of individuals so that they would be more effective.
The application poses serious concerns regarding invasion of privacy and company’s use of personal information. Since Facebook has not even made the plans of the app public, it is possible that they will answer these concerns in the best possible way.
